No rights can be guaranteed, unless first, the people are guaranteed the right to be armed. If you understand this, then you recognize the Second Amendment as the guardian of all other rights. This is not to say that our right to keep and bear arms totally insulates us from encroachments on our freedoms. But, it does act as a restraint and as the last defense against tyranny. This is the primary intent of the Second Amendment. It is for this reason, we affirm “shall not be infringed”.
